.....
The closest thing I have to a "day job" is that I get weekly sales data from our company in Peru (via email on MS Excel), pour into my database (MS Access, an SQL database) and look for helpful trends so that our company can better buy bearings (anticipate sales, etc.). The below took me awhile to figure out how to do. Since I do not know any HTML jazz, I just try to do the simplest thing possible. I sent the below to Excel, and I did not see any simple solutions there, so I re-sent on over MS Word. There is a way to save the information "as it will look on the Web". Banzai.
Codigo is our internal reference for each bearing we sell. Bearings prefixed with "02" (KBC brand) and "11" (Iljin brand) are from KOREA! We are their Exclusive Distributors for their products in Peru. This is the kind of thing I do when not thinking about, writing about or buying gold! These bearings are ranked from best selling down. I mentioned to you earlier that all that we had no May sales of our "02-6007-RS" bearing, which was really bad because it is our top seller (front wheel bearing for the "Daewoo Tico", a very small car popular in Peru -- for those interested). Blanks below signify no sales in that month. But, it came out of Peruvian Customs and over to us on May 19. 7030 pcs sold in three days! I can hardly wait to get last week's sales data...

just curious but what is the reason for the demand drop in April ?
ReplyDeleteOur biggest problem in April was that we did not have any inventory of some of our best sellers. That can cause knock-on problems: "Oh, you don't have that..." they then buy something verry similar from a competitor and maybe other items as well...
ReplyDeleteJAPAN makes lots of nice bearings, and we sell some we get at fairly high prices on the "Gray Market", but there is really too much competition in Peru re Japanese and Chinese, so we are going with the guys giving us quality AND price: Korea!
You could use IrfanView to copy your chart/graphic as a .jpg, adjust the size to suit you, and then post it just like a photo.
ReplyDeleteForge ahead!
I see, the demand on 02-6007-RS is out to lunch.
ReplyDeleteare you just selling what you have in stock which would be a supply issue ?
If so I can drop by a bearing plant next time I am over korea way. Its just 2 hours from my door.
donpaulo, LOL, Ameru could you send over as our Director of Asian Operations...
ReplyDeleteWe are almost every day in touch with both KBC and Iljin (their Sales Departments). Our problem is that Hyundai is kicking ass all over world, so it is hard for us to get them to produce the pieces we need. But, we did just get 12,000. But they will likely be gone in a week or two. SCREAM! Again.
I am serious RM. I do get over to Korea from time to time and it would be interesting to get a tour of a bearing factory depending on where it is on the peninsula.
ReplyDeleteA business model that sells out of its supply is an appealing one
donpaulo, let me think this over and talk with my in-laws there in Peru. If we want to explore this further, we will need to know more (like see your resume, etc.).
ReplyDeleteI just thought of something maybe for you though. If (and I know it's a low probability thing) neither KBC nor Iljin has representation in any country where you have SOLID BUSINESS CONTACTS (like in small S. American countries or in Central America), I can hook YOU up with KBC and/or Iljin. Email me at the usual dochenrollingbearing@gmail.com if you want to explore this idea further.
For dialogs like this, email probably works better.
